Journal Entry: April 18th-23rd, 2005

Attila's dad sent him some money via Western Union, still not enough to not his wallet returned but, as friends, Nate and I were there to help him out. Getting to San Jose was a hair-raising event. We were not the only passengers trying to get on the bus to this city by the beach. But Attila preached about patience, "soon, we will have time to relax!"

San Jose, The Cabo de Gata Region of Andalucia. A small town filled with endeless hiking trails and beaches with a population under 400 people (to my guess).

This Region, Cabo de Gata, is a great getaway from the busy big cities. The beaches were calm and almost empty of people. Going nude at the beach was very common, no one cared or even gave a glance. Live your way!

Cabo de Gata, is very well known for the old Clint Eastwood movies where the majority of his films were filmed around this area of Spain. This region appeared like anywhere in western region of the United States: California, Arizona or New Mexico.

We couldn't get enough of this place, the nature and the open spaces without the tourist, this place was perfect.

It seemed that we've probably walked well over 7km, though it was good to exprience seeing the terrain, I just wanted to take a nap.

I totally forgot to mention the great hostel. Albergue de San Jose. For only ten euros per person, per night. This hostel had an amazing host(s), bar and restaurant all together. The only problem we encountred were the mosquitoes.

Things were looking up. No one is competeting against one another, no arguments, nothing! We also made some friends. One guy in particular (picture above) named Chris from Nova Scotia, Canada. We invited him to tag along with us to Morocco. "I'm down!"

We also met another cool guy from Madrid, named Javier, aka Javi! He said that he had a car and if we wanted, we could join him for a hike around this hidden beach town (if you will) known as Las Negras.

Las Negras had many forgotten fortresses, castles, etc. The walk was kinda far, but it was worth it.

Las Negras Cafe. A small cafe that offered many different types of beer, food and ash trays. Hasish seemed to be the dominate cigarett around this place.

Going to Las Negras was also a good way to get to know our new traveling buddy, Chris. He talked about his passion, theatre and music. A very talented guy. I think we'll get along.

Sunset, Las Negas. Soon, we will take off for Morocco. Attila suggested that we should leave our large backpacks and only take our daypacks, for easy-going traveling style and security. "But, where?"
